Ryderwood, Washington ~ "The Village in the Woods"

Ryderwood History Project, Inc.

About: Ryderwood's AMVETs Post 7010 formed the Project (RHP, Inc.) in 2015 as Ryderwood and Longview, Washington approach their 2023 centennials. Since then, a significant collection has been digitally preserved for the future and the Project has formed a tax-exempt Corporation to continue its mission. The group has hosted live interviews and movie showings. Many activities are co-ordinated with the Cowlitz Co. Historical Museum and Cowlitz Co. Historic Preservation Commission. The mission is to discover, collect, preserve and share knowledge about the histories of Ryderwood, Washington. It is now a 501c3 tax-exempt corporation and all interested parties are encouraged to join the group's efforts to establish a Museum in Ryderwood.

The 2019 Calendar will be available in time for Christmas. This year's issue will cover the Retirement years starting in 1953. $10 each! Use contact form below to sign up.

But that's not all! A new 40-page bound booklet, The Town With Two Histories, includes the photo pages of the 2017, 2018 and 2019 calendars. This lovely "coffee table book" was made possible, in part, by Federal funds administered by the Department of Historic Preservation (DAHP) as well as Cowlitz County. The price has yet to be determined.

Plan to visit the Project's new display space opening soon in the SE corner of the Community Hall building (301 Morse St.). This is the space was most recently used by "The Nest" gift shop, but it started it's life as the town's Barber Shop.
